Who we are
Pally Life Development Society (PLDS) is a nonprofit working with communities in Bangladesh. This policy explains what information we collect through this website, how we use it, and the choices you have. “We”, “us” and “our” mean PLDS.
What information we collect
Information you give us through our forms:
- Contact form: your name, email address, subject and message.
- Volunteer form: your name, email address, the area you are interested in, and anything you choose to tell us about yourself.
- Newsletter form: your name and email address.
Each form also asks you to tick a box agreeing that we may use these details to reply to you or, for the newsletter, to send you updates.
Information you send us directly, for example by email or WhatsApp. When you confirm a donation, this usually includes your name, the amount, and the transaction ID or a screenshot of the transfer.
Technical information. Like most websites, our hosting provider may automatically log technical details when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you request and the time of your visit. Our forms also use your IP address for about a minute to block repeated automated submissions; it isn’t kept after that.
Please don’t send us sensitive information such as health details, national ID numbers, or bank or bKash passwords or PINs. We will never ask for them.
How we use it
- To reply to your messages.
- To handle volunteer enquiries and newsletter sign-ups.
- To confirm and record donations.
- To keep the website working and secure, including stopping spam.
We don’t use your information for advertising.
Who we share it with
We don’t sell or rent personal information. We share it only with the service providers that help us run this website:
- Resend, an email delivery service, which delivers form submissions to PLDS by email.
- Our website hosting provider, which runs the site and may keep the technical logs described above.
- Sanity, the content management service we use to edit the website’s text and images. Information you submit through our forms is not stored in Sanity.
We may also share information if the law requires us to.
How long we keep it
Form submissions are sent to PLDS’s email inbox; they are not stored on the website. We keep messages for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry and to keep reasonable records, such as records of donations, and then delete them. If you unsubscribe from the newsletter, we remove your details from our mailing list. Technical logs are kept by our hosting provider under its own retention settings.
Cookies and similar technologies
This website doesn’t use cookies for analytics or advertising, doesn’t use tracking scripts or social media plug-ins, and doesn’t store information in your browser. It doesn’t load fonts, scripts or embedded content from other companies’ servers.
If you use a “Copy” button on the Donate page, your browser copies the bKash number or bank details to your clipboard. Nothing is sent to us.
The content editing area of this site (/studio) is only for PLDS staff. It uses Sanity’s sign-in, which sets its own cookies for people who log in there.
Donations and payment information
Donations are made directly to PLDS by bKash Send Money or bank transfer (NPSB). This website doesn’t process payments, never asks for card details or bank or bKash login details, and doesn’t automatically track donations.
When you confirm a donation, we use the details you send to check the transfer against our bKash or bank records and to update the totals shown on the site. Totals are shown without donors’ names.
Your choices
You can ask us to show you the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. You can unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time by emailing us. To make any of these requests, contact us using the details below.
Children
This website isn’t directed at children, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from children through it. If you believe a child has sent us their details, please contact us and we will delete them.
Links to other sites
This site may link to other websites. We aren’t responsible for their content or for how they handle your information, so please read their privacy policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
